Definition: Armistice with Germany is reached on November 11, 1918. The Treaty of Versailles Armistice returns Alsace-Lorraine to France. France occupies Germany's industrial Ruhr region from January 11, 1923 to July 14, 1925. France is severley affected by the depression, and introduces increasingly stringent restrictions on refugees. At the same time, Paris is the destination of thousands of Jews fleeing Germany and other countries that become subject to Nazi domination. (en-US)
