Located off the western coast of the Greek mainland, the islands of Zákinthos, Kérkira (Corfu), Paxoi (Paxos), Andipaxoi (Anti Paxos), and Kefallinía comprised a division in Greece between the wars. The main city was Kérkira on the island of Corfu. From April 1941 to September 1943, the Ioanian islands were occupied by Italy. After the Italian armistice of September 1943, the islands were then occupied by Germany. 1900- : Greece (en-US)
