Definizione

German armed forces began their invasion of Poland, codenamed Fall Weiss (Operation White) on September 1, 1939. The attack was launched on the false claim that Polish troops had attacked the radio station at Gleiwitz and was the immediate cause of the war. Employing the method of blitzkrieg, the German forces were able to reach central Poland by September 17. The German occupation zone was established west of the Bug River, the Soviet occupation zone to the east by September 28. (en-US)
