Definizione

Lelio Vittorio Valobra was a lawyer from Genoa, Italy, who was the national director of the Delasem aid organization and vice-president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities. In the spring of 1942, he directed a mission to rescue approximately forty-two Jewish children in Italian-occupied Ljubljana who had survived mass executions of Jews in German-occupied Yugoslavia. Valobra brought them to Italy, where they lived under enforced residence in a villa named Villa Emma near Modena. After the armistice, the children went into hiding and all survived. (en-US)
