Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster (1880-1954) (1880-1954) was the Bishop of Milan, Italy. Before the war, Schuster was a priest and abbot in San Paolo. He became the Bishop of Milan and a cardinal in 1928. He supported the independence of the Catholic Action (Azione Cattolica) and spoke out against racism in the cathedral in Milan. During the last year of the war, he became a mediator between the Germans, Fascists, and partisans, and arranged the meeting between Mussolini and the Committee of National Liberation in Milan on April 25, 1945.
