Definizione

The 1919 Treaty of St.-Germain gives Italy Trentino, Trieste, and Istria, yet falls short of the promises made to Italy in the Treaty of London. Both Italy and Yugoslavia claim Fiume and the 1920 Treaty of Rapallo makes Fiume a free state while awarding Italy some islands off Dalmatia. Parliament is led by Giolotti and liberal democrats. In 1919, Mussolini launches the Fascist movement in Milan. By 1921, he transforms his movement into a Fascist Party, opposing the Socialists and trade unions. The Italian Communist Party (PCI) also forms in 1921. (en-US)
