Nota d'ambito

Use for discussions of the process of registering for forced labor. Additional information: For discussions of Hungarian or Slovak military labor conscription, use "military labor conscription" instead. "Deportation from/to..." index terms should only be indexed if the movement was involuntary. For discussions of forced labor conscription as a means of improving an individual's chances of survival, "forced labor conscription" may be used in conjunction with "means of adaptation and survival," "living under false identity," and the relevant "civilian laborers" term. For discussions of raids or roundups of people for forced labor, use "roundups" or "roundups of Jews" instead. (en-US)

Definizione

The enrollment or bureaucratic registration and processing of an individual and/or group in work projects for the Germans. Registration was mainly implemented through conscription orders but also through initial voluntary registration. Several thousand non-German Europeans, mostly Poles and Ukrainians, volunteered to work in Germany but the status of these voluntary workers quickly became one of a prisoner. (en-US)
