Rodi (Governatorato italiano : campo d'internamento) CercaDefinizione
The Italian government in Rhodes established a provisional military encampment for Jewish detainees in May 1940. The detainees were survivors of a ill-fated transport ship destined for Palestine coordinated by Betar (in Slovakia). The ship sank while at sea on May 16, 1940, and the Italian authorities housed the remaining survivors at an internment camp in the port of Rhodes. In 1942 the Jewish internees were transferred to mainland Italy. (en-US)
