Definizione

The Young Men's Hebrew Association (YMHA) was formed in New York around 1874. The YMHA later expanded to include a network of 120 cultural centers. By 1913, the YMHA and the broader Jewish community center movement was coordinated by the Council of Young Men's Hebrew and Kindred Associations (YMHA and KA). Leaders of the National Jewish Welfare Board (JWB) consolidated control of the Council in 1921. In 1946 the World Federation of YMHA's and Jewish Community Centers was created. This federation, now known as the Jewish Community Centers Association of North America, oversees 275 community centers, YM-YWHAs ( Young Men's and Women's Hebrew Associations) and camps for Jewish youths.
