Despite knowledge of Nazi genocide policies, the anti-Zionist Vatican will not support Jewish immigration to Palestine. German troops enter Rome on September 11. When over 1,000 Jews are arrested in Rome on October 16, the Vatican warns German military authorities that further actions would result in a Papal protest; no more such deportations take place.
